April 2009
starring into the glow of the frig, i imagine how these things can be transformed. i light the stove.
absent a tangible plan, i seem to accomplish just as much, maybe a little more; but i sound like an idiot when asked what i’ll do next.
i’ve been flying without a calendar or to-do list for months (more or less), a casual experiment with intuitive time management.

setting up a Facebook Page, and updating other sites, for @HearthHill. http://bit.ly/3Zpxq
in between other projects and tasks, i’ve integrated and synchronized most of @HearthHill’s online media.
i’m testing @MagickCoffee’s recommended app for synchronizing @Twitter with an @Facebook Page. so far, it’s working like a charm. thanks!
Nik describes my morning face as “anime hair”.
experimenting with synchronized posting of my updates to all major social networks.
on the porch, outlining a marketing campaign for @TheCrazyBaker, eating strawberries w/ yogurt & @AmbrosiaFarm’s honey, beside @Natterjack.
male carpenter bees hover by every wall of the log house, single men loitering around a women’s dorm, occasionally butting heads.
i think i also found the winter lodge of @HearthHill’s grounghogs.
i got blisters contemplating online marketing strategies for @TheCrazyBaker. i enjoy this kind of work.
leaving today’s office (aka the front porch) to contemplate new business strategies (aka go kayaking, in @GreenmanLeather’s kayak).
barefoot, eating biscuits on the porch. @Natterjack says we’re just like 19th century coal miners. except for the lattes.
warm winds sway across @HearthHill. the woods awaken in gold and amber petals, pale green leaves misting the north face.
for the first time since it was built in ‘37, the log house @HearthHill has decent wiring. well, in the four upstairs rooms.
backlit by worklight / a shadow in the attic / snakes cables downward. (@QuietLaughter #renga #haiku)
lingering candlewax / this sedative mountain sky / dripping from the eaves. (@QuietLaughter #renga #haiku #HearthHill)
today Rick the electrician began rewiring my office and the upper floor of the log house @HearthHill.
sheltered from the gentle spring rain, i nibble scrambled eggs with morels, while writing another micro-review @FeralFilmLLC.
yesterday’s drive into the western low country suggests spring’s greening is maybe 2 weeks slower @HearthHill’s elevation.
on the road west to Ravenswood, with @Natterjack, bringing clementines & peanuts. just entered Jackson County.
thinking about making the drive from @HearthHill west all the way to the Ohio, for @MagickCoffee.
i rarely pay any attention to the size of my files. electronic storage is so cheap and plentiful, it just doesn’t matter.
noticed my contacts database has grown larger than was the entire hard drive in my first Mac, on which i originally designed it.
mushrooms from the morning’s foray into the woods…. http://bit.ly/M4OBV
took a long morning foray, with @Natterjack and local friends, collecting several pounds of morel and other mushrooms in the woods.
thinking the new Myspace profiles are less ugly than the old ones, but no more useful. http://myspace.com/myklbiz
for the first time in years, probably the last time ever, using QuicKeys to create scripts within the Classic Mac OS.

needless to say, you should NEVER input nor store important data in any tool that won’t export it to another standard format.
writing custom scripts to export the data from an ancient calendar application (by a long defunct developer) with no export feature.
staying up late to work on one of my own projects — a rare event.
How to shorten URLs →
I’ve had several questions about this, recently.
If youcut-n-paste a long URL into yourtweet on Twitter, it will automatically be shortened when you post the update. I think Twitter still uses…
i sometimes despair of American employers competing globally, when management’s head is crammed so far up into the 19th century.
astounded by the backwards thinking of companies who block employee access to the most powerful information tool in human history.
what is Beer Can Chicken, you ask? →
it’s easy outdoor cooking.
what do you need?
1 whole chicken
1 can of beer (needn’t be fancy)
spices & seasonings
a grill with a cover (works well in a full size Weber-type)
normal grill…

roots, rocks and sky all sketched in grey, i sit in the River Room with @Natterjack, sharing her banana bread and coffee.

in recent times, my idea of “taking the day off” = taking the time to cook a breakfast, then working on only one project all day.
okay, that didn’t last long. too much to do = i’m multi-tasking on my “day of rest”.
